When the checkbox is active, ARRIRAW on Capture Drives and Compact Drives is available as HDE files*.
*HDE ARRIRAW from ALEXA 35 is presented as .mxf files. HDE ARRIRAW from earlier camera models is presented as .arx files
Capture Drives (ALEXA LF, SXT and XT):
For source volumes that are formatted as CodexFS on older ARRI cameras such as ALEXA LF, SXT, and XT, then Device Manager presents a volume with no "_hde" suffix where files are either .ari or .arx depending on whether the HDE checkbox is enabled.
Compact Drives (ALEXA 35, Mini LF and Mini):
For source volumes that are formatted as UDF from newer ARRI cameras such as ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini LF and ALEXA Mini, the original volume contains the source .mxf files and Device Manager presents an additional volume with a "_hde" suffix that contains the HDE files when the HDE checkbox is enabled.
Go to the High Density Encoding help page for more information.
